About this report

"Government information requests" include both emergency and routine legal demands for account information issued by law enforcement and other government agencies.

"Routine requests" (aka non-emergency requests) are legal demands issued by government or law enforcement authorities (e.g., subpoenas, court orders, search warrants) that compel X to turn over account information.

"Compliance rate" refers to the percentage of information requests where X produced at least some of the requested account information.

“Preservation requests” refers to government and law enforcement requests made in accordance with relevant law that require X to maintain the specified account data pending the issuance of valid legal process to obtain that data.

Information Requests

"Legal demands" include a combination of court orders and other formal demands to remove content, from both governmental entities and lawyers representing individuals.

"Accounts specified" includes the number of accounts identified in the requests we’ve received.

"Compliance rate" refers to the percentage of requests where X took a specific action to remove content (e.g., post or account withheld, post removed, or an account was suspended) in response to a legal demand.

"Accounts withheld" refers to accounts that have been withheld in their entirety.

"posts withheld" refers to posts that have been withheld at the individual post level, and does not count the total number of individual posts from the "Accounts withheld" column.

"Accounts TOS" refers to the number of accounts where either the account was suspended or some content was removed for violating X’s TOS (which includes both X’s Terms of Service and the Our Rules).
